Fall of 2010 Chemistry

Welcome to my Chemistry Blog.

Chem C101 Students: Please note that we are using Hein and Arena Lecture Text and the Hein Lab text. This has been changed from last year as the lab manual was getting way outdated. Note: The class is now full. See comment below about waiting list. ISBN Numbers are forthcoming

Chem C111 Students: The textbooks are the same as last year's: Brown LeMay and Bursten

Lecture Text:
0136006175 (ISBN 10)
978013006176 (ISBN 13)

Lab Text
0136002854 (ISBN 10)
9780136002857 (ISBN 13)

All classes: you may use an older edition of the book and/or lab manual, but you will need to cross-reference experiments. Pay attention to the titles of the experiments when I hand out the syllabus.

Chem C111 Waitlisters: The waitlist is at 13 students. I promise that we will get you into the class, but you may need to take the lab at another time (Monday or Wednesday morning are possibilities)

I randomly determined the order:

You must be here for all the presentations. If you show up late or leave early it will count against your participation grade for Honors.

The Final Stretch

All Classes:

It is your responsibility to turn in all your homeworks and labs. It is your responsibility to ask me which labs/homework you are missing.

I will be rolling grades on Tuesday May 18th at 9 pm. This means that I will enter whatever grade you have based upon the material you have turned in and your exams scores.

If you wish, and because of the renovation, you may ask for a 1 week extension IN WRITING (email is fine) by May 12th. You will then have until May 25th to turn in your work. However, it is your respsonsibility to do this and you must also acknowledge that this may delay your records if you are transferring to another college.

Thanks for your understanding during the renovation. Hopefully the thermite enging melting demonstration will occur Wednesday May 5th around 5:56 pm.
